She slipped out of her collar while she was out back on her lead this morning. After an hour of frantic searching and making calls we got a message from her chip monitor company that she was found safe and was at a vet two towns over. And I’ve now vowed I’ll never let her out alone on that lead ever again. On the way home after picking her up we stopped to get her a puppicino from Starbucks
She enjoyed it a lot. We were told she only made it about 2 blocks away from the house before someone called the police cause they were worried about her running into traffic. So a very nice police officer came to pick her up and took her to the vet. After the scanned her for a chip that’s when they called us. The vets office told us that had nobody claimed her the officer wanted to adopt her cause she was such a happy dog. I’m just glad to have her home

I can recommend a harness+ a collar is a good method, put the lead through both rings.

I was walking my 2 dogs and a friend’s dog named Toby (on the left) that we were dogsitting. It was July 4th and fireworks were going off all over LA, Toby freaked out, slipped out of his harness, and dived into a nearby bush. I dived in after the little bastard and caught him, then realized I’d dropped the leash on my own dogs. I crawl back out and and see them sitting just outside the bush staring at me, to my relief.
Fireworks, for reference:

lol our old dog used to get out of her cage and run pretty often. She always came back after a few hours so it was all good

We tried that once. She chewed through her 30 dollar harness

Such a cutie.
We had a Maremma called Caesar. He’d get out the back yard (goodness knows how, the wall is about six feet high). The first time we got a call from Mr Powers at Carlisle Castle (about five streets away) to say our dog was with them. We said we’d be right round and were told, ‘no hurry he’s entertaining some of the tourists’.
Each time he disappeared after that, you could guarantee he’d be round at the castle.
He was a great dog, my dad however was an a-hole but he did do one thing. He didn’t like picking up after Caesar’s dog ‘mess’, so he trained him to only ‘mess’ in the sewer drains.
